At the request of the 50 NGOs that are part of the Southeast Asia Renewable Energy People's Assembly (SEAREPA)we have translated Waking the Green Tiger into 10 more languages in order to support screenings in dam affected communities across south and southeast Asia.
Waking the Green Tiger is now available in a total of 13 languages: Hindi, Bengali, Burmese, Kachin, Thai, Vietnamese, Lao Pilipino, Bahasa Indonesia, Portuguese, Turkish, English and Chinese.
Your donation will support these translations and community screenings and enable us to give out free copies to local groups and NGOs.
The timing is good. China has recently announced plans to resume building dams that will affect neighboring countries and there are dozens of dams in the planning stages throughout the region.
We've already had requests from more than 100 people in China who will be showing the film to small groups and passing the film along. Now we're launching a similar effort in SE Asia, but we need your help to support a coordinator and distribute copies of the film.
Our partners at LEAP/SEAREPA have a long track record of carrying out projects in the region and we are confident that we can work with them to administer and complete this project at a very modest cost. The results could be far reaching.
